Overview
Spiti Valley is a cold desert located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Spiti is a heavenly gateway for those seeking solitude in the bliss of nature. This majestic cold desert valley in Himachal Pradesh is replete with pine forests, green meadows, beautiful monasteries and inhabited villages that will leave you totally awe-stuck. Situated at an altitude of around 12,500 ft above the sea level the barren mountains over here change their hues every second and it is definitely a sight to behold ‘Spiti’ literally translates into the middle land as the value lies between India and Tibet. The region offers spectacular glimpses of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges. It is one of the coldest places in India as the region gets only around 250 days of sunshine in a year. The beautiful valley is lined with small huts and Buddhist monasteries inhabited by people who live simple lives and welcome tourists with open arms.
Itinerary
On arrival airport or railway station meet and greet with our representative and drive to Narkanda. Narkanda is a quintessential small Himalayan town located on a ridge – which is why it is called Narkanda. Kanda in local dialect means a ridge or a high place. Narkanda is snuggled in a thick alpine forest of the lesser Himalayas about 60 km far from Shimla.After reaching Narkanda we will settle down our selves & later if time permits, we shall visit the famous Hatu temple and spend some time there. Relax in the evening.We will visit Hatu Temple if everyone is upto it. We will witness the spectacular view of the Himalayan ranges, Snow covered mountains, deep forests, apple orchards andgreen fields are absolutely surreal to the eyes of visitors. After breakfast, check-out form the hotel and get driven to Sangla Valley, into the district of half horse half men, En-route visit the Batseri Village where an old-fashioned bridge erected over the Baspa River leads you to Batseri and its cobble-stoned thoroughfares and the local temple of Badri Narayan. After this, visit the Kamru Fort – This five-storied tower type fort rests on 55 square feet of stone stage and was constructed by Dev Puran. The elegantly complex statues of the wooden porches and minuscule temple are a view will behold you in the amiable area. Dinner & Overnight stay at hotel in Sangla.
After breakfast, check-out form the hotel and get driven to Kalpa, via Reckong Peo – the district capital of Kinnaur. On arrival at Kalpa, check-in at your hotel. It is a place where we get permit to enter Spiti valley and once all formalities done.you can do a small a trek to Roghi Village (remember the way to Roghi Village is open only in summers) and then to suicide point. Next point of your trip should be Kamru Fort. Follow this with lunch and continue your journey to Basteri if shopping is on your list or else one can visit the ancient village of Kothi, known for its temple, fruit orchards and spellbinding views. This day after breakfast check out from the hotel and drive towards Nako– a scenic hamlet – known for its namesake lake. The unspoilt, serene and picturesque village of Nako is located in Kinnaur District of Himachal Pradesh at a height of around 3600m. visit Nako monastery or find yourself at peace, just watching the echoes of the clouds taking a saunter on the divinely beautiful oval shaped lake, protected by all sides by the mighty high Himalayas. After Nako we will continue our drive towards Tabo you will be driving to Tabo. It is not a day travelling but, Today we will be entering the beautiful Spiti valley which is also known as the cold desert of the Himalayas ( as this area is cut from rest of the world due to heavy snow in the winters). Later continue, drive to Tabo enroute visit Gue Monastery. Gue Village in Spiti Valley, about 40 km from the Tabo Monastery, has a mummified monk, Sangha Tenzin, who had given up his life while meditating and is more than 500 years. It is the only Buddhist Mummy in the world, that too, in a sitting position. There were other mummies also in Tibet which were buried by Tibetans just after the Chinese invasion. This morning after breakfast we will start our journey towards Dhankar monastery & pin valley. After this drive to drive to Mud, enroute visit Dhankar monasteryDhankar Monastery, Dhankar Village and Monastery situated at an elevation of 3,894 meters (12,774 feet) is at the perfect setting for any monument in this world. Dhankar Monastery is also known to have been Nyingma and Kagyu-pa, depending upon the religious allegiance of the King’s family. One of the major attractions of Dhankar Monastery is statue of Vairochana (Dhayan Buddha), consisting of 4 figures seated back to back. It also houses a collection of various centuries old thankas.Dhankar was traditional capital of the Spiti Valley Kingdom during the 17th century and has some features dating back to the 12th century. Dhankar Monastery is recognized by the World Monuments Fund as one of the Hundred Most Endangered Sites in the world. After visiting this beautiful monastery, will drive to Pin Valley with its sub frozen rivers with its sub frozen rivers, Pin Valley is the only cold desert National Park located in Himachal Pradesh. Pin Valley is hub to the jeopardized snow leopard. In addition, other animals can also be sighted as Siberian ibex, bharal, weasel, red fox and marten. Birds such as the pika, griffon, golden eagle, bearded vulture, chukor and raven paint the skies a pretty picture. Later get driven to the district capital of Spiti Valley – Kaza. After breakfast, check-out form the hotel and get driven to Kibber, take pleasure in high-altitude weather in the town of Kaza, which is an administrative centre of the Spiti Valley. ride drive from the Kaza to the small village of Kibber. Kibber a narrow valley on the summit of a limestone rock is situated at4205m which is famous for its motor able connectivity and own polling station during elections. From here drive to the ki Gompas where one can observe the houses of large number of Buddhist monks and nuns anda cafeteria..Later procedd for , Hikkim, Komic & Langza. Hikkim, a small village in Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, is known for housing the world’s highest post office. Besides this universal fact, the serene location of the place makes it a perfect holiday destination for those in search of tranquillity. Due to its high elevation, the village remains snow-capped for a considerable time around the year. Hence, you would want to visit Hikkim when the weather is pleasant.later get driven to the highest village of Asia Komik, literally means ‘eye of a snow cock’, and islocated at a height of 4513m. This agronomy hamlet has a population of 84 people, living in complete isolation, cut-off from the rest of the world for most parts of the year. Here you can visit the Komik Lundu Chhemo, which is one of the highest monasteries in the world, set in attractive backdrop. After komic get driven to Langza. It a hamlet located at an elevation of 4400 meters and fits to the Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Langza is village having the population of 137 in 33 households. Here you can stroll to the ancient Lang (Temple), which is estimated to be around 1000 years old. Dinner & Overnight stay at hotel in Kaza.
After breakfast, check-out form the hotel and get driven to the incredible Chandratal Lake, enroute will cross Kunzum La. Kunzum Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4,590 m (15,059 ft) above the sea level, located on the eastern Kunzum Range of the Himalayas, in India. It is one of India’s highest motor able mountain pass. It’s the highest point in the Spiti Valley Road The road over the pass is not a road. Just a dirt track leading up to the top of the hill. It links the Kullu Valley and Lahaul Valley with the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh. The surface on this gravel road is often loose, especially along the sides o Continue drive to Chandertal, on arrival check in at camps.
Post a delectable breakfast, drive back to Manali Later evening you Will Reach Manali. Check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
